September 7th 2013

We finally made a sensory tub, inspired by Katrin. We bought a lot of pasta of different shapes at Costco and put them all in a  giant tub. They love it. Actually I was at work for most of the playing on Friday. But I hear they loved it!

Finn is walking better and better each day. He is getting a new injury almost daily from his over-ambitious clumsiness. He is so eager and happy.

They are hitting and biting and pulling hair more. Olivia hit me with something it her hand today and gave me a fat lip! We are trying our best to work out our discipline plan. We are both softies, but we know it is up to us to teach them how to act so they can succeed in the world, and so they don't hurt each other. At the same time, we know that they aren't intentionally hurting each other, or us, so we don't want to make them feel bad. But we have to give them some kind of clear feed-back so that they understand that they shouldn't do that thing again. And we are also working on being consistent, so that they get the same reaction from us, even when it doesn't hurt us, so that it's an easy lesson to understand. I'm sure this stage will last a while, but hopefully we will do a good job as parents so that they learn not to hit other little friends.

We put the Fisher Price piano back in the baby-cage today (more of a room than a cage). They acted like it was a new toy. Olivia danced to the tunes it made.

Olivia still loves tomatoes.

They are both suffering a lot from their canines coming in. I think Olivia's have broken the skin. I can't wait for it to be over, this had been the worst teething since before they had any teeth. We got lectured quite severely by the nurse for not regularly brushing their teeth. We do our best. Sometimes they let us really get in there. I think they are improving.
